I watched an Indonesian movie titled ‘Tanda Tanya’ several days ago. Just like its title, I keep asked to myself during watching. Why the muslimah wearing veil says ‘Assalamu’alaikum’ to people outside Islam? Why should she worked on a stall which sells foods containing pork (even though it sells halal food and the cooking utensils used are totally different)? Why a Muslim should try to broaden his experience in acting by acted as the Jesus in Christian drama? Why Muslims are portrayed as the brutal and rude one, meanwhile the non-muslims portrayed as the good and kind people?
I know, there are Muslim and Muslimah whose acts do not reflects their religion, but, that’s not a reason to make a movie which could be mistakenly understood as a proof that Islam allows us to act immoral, speaks rude, and cannot tolerate everyone outside Islam. Islam teach us to tolerate, but not to confusedly mixed this and that religion.
The ending was a little bit relieving, but still, I could not recommend that movie to you.
And when I saw credit, I know why the movie was like that. My guessing was true :).
Sorry, I did not mean to touch sensitive subject. I know that I do not have right to judge what people do. Just try to burst my opinion out of my mind.
